water heater
Think I'm going to eventually buy a propane water heater for the house (for efficiency).
Where's the best place to buy them? I really can't even find prices online for them... I'm thinking of getting it at Home Depot with a 10% off coupon or something. WOuld this be the best place? |

Lowe's and Home Depot are usually the best place to buy (maybe the only?). I actually just helped my brother install 2 GE electric hotwater heaters. What fun that was! <add sarcasm>
One thing that you could always look into are tankless hotwater heaters. I think they make gas as well as electric. Not sure if you know about them but basically, they contain coils that super heat the water (water is heated on demand unlike a tank heater which keeps the water hot) since the water is heated right then and there, it results in a cheaper electric bill (though note that it requires ALOT of power when actually using it, but supposedly still turns out cheaper) and it usually requires and electrician to help with the install of it. The gas one works on a similar concept. Are you planning on installing the heater(s) yourself or paying someone to do it? |

hoping to find someone that will help me install it for a case of beer. Can't be that hard to install. A gas water heater is all mechanical... its when you mix electricity into it is when bad things happen with me. |

Basically, you need a pipe cutter and some solder (buy something other then lead solder) also, knowing how to sweat the joints of the pip connections is a must (not hard once you get the feel for it). Also, make sure that you buy some piping insulation if the pipes aren't already insulated and cover as much of the pipes as you can with it. |
