Which Are The Best Types Of Make-Up Brush?

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

Here is a little tip for you – do not apply your make up with your fingers – use a make up brush instead.

A good friend of mine who has been involved within the cosmetic industry for a number of years has tried to educate me on the subject. I am personally involved in the stuttering therapy sector advising people on how to stop stuttering.

Blending

A smooth finish is what is required if you really want to look your best. Using your fingers and the fingertips makes it very difficult to get this smooth finish, where as if you use a good quality shaped make-up brush you can.

There are of course various oils in your fingers which can easily transfer to your face to make it look blotchy. Oil can easily be transferred to the make up if one is not too careful – this can ruin it for future use.

I often see people out and about in pubs and clubs and can tell straight away whether they have used a brush or if they have just simply used their fingers. I know which person I find more attractive.

Control

It is far easier to control the amount of powder or other make-up you are using when you apply it with a make-up brush. Using merely the tips of your fingers can lead to cosmetic disaster – a face that looks like it has been plastered – not the look one wants lol. This can look really horrible and is a huge turn off. I would be thinking, what are you trying to hide beneath all of that make up? It also shows a lack of self-esteem and confidence on the part of the wearer.

This of course was not meant to happen and could have been avoided by using by a brush.

Which type of brush?

Most people believe that long handled brushes are by far the best for applying make-up, this is mainly due to balance.

When looking to purchase these brushes you normally get what you pay for. I would certainly advise where possible to avoid the lower end of the market.

Make Up Application for Beginners

Being beautiful is essential to every woman. Some say that beauty is not that important, but you have got to admit, being pretty in everyone’s eyes is still very flattering. The common thing that females use to enhance their beauty is make up. Basically, make up refers to any cosmetic applied on the face, to alter or enhance the appearance of women, or even men. Both men and women use make up, particularly for theater and play purposes. Naturally, however, women are the ones who apply it on their faces everyday. If you want to enhance your face’s appearance, thus enhancing your beauty as well, you could use the following tips on applying cosmetics. This information of free makeup tips will be especially useful for girls just learning.

To begin, the basic things you will need are concealer, face powder, foundation, eye shadow, cheek blush, mascara, lipstick, lip shimmer, and the blush brush. These are the usual and everyday cosmetics of women. Some of these supplies can be obtained from free makeup samples that come in gift sets when you make a purchase. One line of cosmetics that I really enjoy is MAC makeup tips.

Applying concealer all over your face is the first step. You should choose a concealer with a shade lighter than that of your foundation. Using a sponge or just your bare fingertips, spread it all over your face to “conceal” eye bags, dark spots, blemishes, and pimples. Put some eye cream first if the concealer “cakes”. Then, use your index fingertip to apply foundation in tiny dots and spread these to cover the entire face. Pressed or loose powder should be applied so both concealer and foundation will last longer.

You can proceed to the eye area once you are done with your face. Use your eyebrow shadow and apply it using a brush. There are also pencils, but these can sometimes give unnatural-looking results. Next, use light, medium and dark shades of the eye shadow color you chose to apply earlier. The medium shade will be applied on the creases, the lighter shade under the eyebrows, and the darker shade on the upper lids. Line the eyelashes’ lower lid area using eyeliner. The usual application is just two-thirds of the lower lid, but if you want a darker look, line all across the lower lid.

The next thing that you need to do is apply your mascara on both upper and lower lashes. Brown mascara is better to use if you have fair complexion. On the other hand, if you have ebrown complexion, use darker shades of mascara, preferably black. You could also try experimenting with different colors of mascara. However, too bright colors are to be avoided if you do not wish to be a laughingstock. After the mascara application is finished, go back to your face. Apply your blush on the apple of your cheeks. It is best to smile when applying brush.

Once you are now done with the basics, you can put the finishing touches. Find a lipstick color that goes well with your skin tone and apply it on your lips. Then, line your lips with lip liner; this is used after lipstick application and not prior to it. This way, the lip liner also disappears as the lipstick wears off. Do not combine pale lipstick with dark lip liner.

And that is how you put on simple make up. You can choose to do your own style if you are already familiar at this. These are just the basics of cosmetic application meant as a guide for beginners.

Cosmetics Tips for Novices

Being beautiful is essential to every woman. Even if some believe that beauty is not what matters, you cannot deny how good it feels to be considered beautiful by everyone. Women usually use make up to further bring out their beauty. Make up is typically any cosmetic applied to a woman, or even a man’s face to change or improve the appearance. Both men and women use make up, particularly for theater and play purposes. Naturally, however, women are the ones who apply it on their faces everyday. If you want to make yourself, and your face, more beautiful, make use of some of the tips listed hereunder in applying make up with great results. This information of makeup will be especially useful for girls just learning.

All you will need to start are the blush, blush brush, foundation, concealer, mascara, lipstick, lip gloss, face powder and eye shadow. These are the usual cosmetics women use everyday. Some of these supplies can be obtained from free makeup samples that come in gift sets when you make a purchase. One line of cosmetics that I really enjoy is MAC cosmetics.

Applying concealer all over your face is the first step. The concealer should at least be of a shade lighter than the foundation you have. Using a sponge or just your bare fingertips, spread it all over your face to “conceal” eye bags, dark spots, blemishes, and pimples. If the concealer usually “cakes”, put on eye cream prior to the use of the concealer. Then, use your index fingertip to apply foundation in tiny dots and spread these to cover the entire face. Pressed or loose powder should be applied so both concealer and foundation will last longer.

Now that you are done with the face, you can now do your eye area. Using a brush, apply some eye shadow. You could use some eye pencils but these usually give the eyes an unnatural look. Next, acquire some lighter and darker shades of eye shadow than the color use used earlier. The dark eye shadow should be used on the upper lid area while the medium shade and light shade are to be used for creases and under the eyebrow respectively. Line the eyelashes’ lower lid area using eyeliner. Normally, two-thirds of the lower lid is lined but you can choose to line all across it for a darker look.

Next, use mascara to emphasize your upper and lower eyelashes. Brown mascara is better to use if you have fair complexion. On the other hand, if you have ebrown complexion, use darker shades of mascara, preferably black. You could also try experimenting with different colors of mascara. You should not use excessively bright colors, though, if you do not want to be laughed at. Once the mascara is done, go back to your face. Put some cheek blush on your face. It is best to smile when applying brush.

Proceed with the finishing touches once you have completed doing the basics. Choose a lipstick color that complements your skin complexion and use it on your lips. Get your lip liner and line it on the lips after you apply the lipstick and not before. This way, the lip liner also disappears as the lipstick wears off. Do not combine pale lipstick with dark lip liner.

And that is how you put on simple make up. You can choose to do your own style if you are already familiar at this. These are merely the basics of applying cosmetics in your face for those who do not know how to do it yet.
