A toaster can come in use every morning. A lot of people have toasts for breakfast before heading to work. I am one of them.

 

Microwave is another useful device to have. Sometimes you will have days when you won’t feel like cooking that is when microwave comes in handy to quickly heat your pre cooked meals.

 

Wine rack is a handy piece of accessory for wine drinkers. Normally wine drinkers are used to collecting fine wines. You will see a huge collection of wines when you visit a wine drinker’s home. Even if you are not a wine collector but love drinking wine, wine racks can be very useful to have.

 

Don’t forget to have bottle opener in the kitchen if you are looking to open the wine. You will be able to open beer bottles and wine bottles with bottle opener so it is another good accessory to have.

House warming party is celebrated when someone moves into their new home. This ceremony was started by the Americans a long time ago. Generally people give gift baskets or flowers or wine for this type of ceremony but I feel kitchen accessories, wine racks or wine gifts would be impressive gifts to give away for house warming. The items mentioned above will be in definite use for the new house.

 

The reason for a house warming party is that you celebrate this moment with your friends and family in your new home. This is when your friends and family will wish you all the best in your new home. House warming parties has been going along for many years in America but it was recently picked up in UK and Europe. We have been attending parties in the UK when someone’s buys a new house but we normally don’t name them house warming party in UK.

 

Giving gifts differs culture wise I think, different people buy different gifts. Many Asian families I know give away tableware, kitchen accessories or curtains or something which can be useful for the house. I have also seen English, Irish and Welsh family just take flower bouquets with a bottle of wine for a house warming gift. It is interesting on how thinking and giving differs culturally when giving gifts or receving gifts. One my friend got married in an India recently and is now settled there so I went to visit her when she bought her new house. I went to her new house and lives with her in laws, I took a bottle of wine with some flowers, I received an incredible reception, I felt like I was in a 5 star Ritz hotel, it was great. Few weeks ago I went to one my English friend’s new home with a bottle of wine I was thanked in a slightly different way which was great too.

Sometimes we like to eat quick casual meals at a bar in our house if one is available. It makes for a different feel rather than sitting at a dining room table. If the family TV is nearby, it is a nice experience to just sit and watch while we eat our meal. Here we will make California rolls while we relax at the bar.
